… (missing Lisbon) is my current state – back in good, old, cold Paris. And that’s why I am going to show you photos of some highlights in the white city – which I have taken while walking around in Bairro Alto and neighboring districts. Continue Reading →
Category Archives: English
In order to assure than not only my German friends understand what kind of rag I tell in my little, personal bog, I will write some articles in English from now on. Unfortunately, I will not be able to translate everything, neither will I translate literally. I hope, though, you enjoy these little stories about my life and am looking forward to whatever comment you wanna make…Cheers, L.

La variété française …
… needed to be introduced to my Swedish flatmate. So I looked for Patrick Bruel’s classic hit „Casser la voix“ – and found this incredible video from 1989. Look and marvel at their wicked dancing style (my favourite part is when those three guys jump up and down on the dusty sofa … ):

Shoe-throwing is becoming mainstream …
… as, after the the attack on Georgy Bush in Iraq Wen Jiabao was been attacked by a shoe thrower during a speech in Cambridge. „This university is prostituting itself with this dictator here“, the activist yelled. Shortly after, a shoe found its way up to the stage – something which is hinted to by Wen’s head movement.
Considering this development, I can’t help asking myself: „Should I go and fish my old, worn out of shape running shoes out of the waste basket? I am sure, Sarko would be pleased … “

„He’s lost 150 euro!“ …
… My friend Claire looks at her boyfriend and shakes her head. Michel is working in one of France’s biggest banks, in the middle office – he is overlooking other people’s activities (after Jérôme Kerviel not the worst thing to do). Continue Reading →
Searching a work placement in London, …
… look what I found:
The BBC is looking for a German announcer/ translator for a three-year contract. The only fly in the ointment? The date: 10.08.1979.
And even more archaic – they want A LETTER sent to the BBC’s office. And enclosed a self-addressed envelope.
Those old-style ads: quite charming, aren’t they? 😉

The history of the Internet …
… is the topic of Lonja’s video. Why is it that British, American and French computer networks have finally become compatible with each other. And what the hell does the Cuba crisis have to do with that? Watch and learn!

New inspiration …
… is what I got today from Michael Arrington’s Products I can’t live without (2009).
Although I feel slightly discriminated against, as at least two products (Pandora and Hulu) are not available outside the U.S. I suppose, I’ll have to move house then …

The song of the day …
… , of the week, of the year, of all times, is: „Louder“ by Boundzound 🙂
At least, I it’s on constant loop on my mp3-player

P.S.: Sorry, I had to change the video, because the official versions‘ embedding functions were disabled …
Burger King launches a meat perfume …
… is what techcrunch wrote about yesterday.
„On va se faire bouffer par des chiens!“ – we will be eaten by dogs when we wear this perfume, my classmate Maila commented. Possibly.
One thing is for sure, though: I won’t be attracted to those people – being a vegetarian!
